One would say a memory eventually fades and the other insists it does not.
Do they get to remain forever to recall and be enhanced by time passing by?
Or do they fade into nothingness?
The thing about consciously knowing that you have created a memory to carry around a silly life that flashes before your eyes is merely a decision of yours. It absolutely is. Most, if not all of us, treat memories as a testament imprinted upon our souls to a life lived or imagined. Although you may disagree which is a natural thing when it comes to humans, this helps me to illustrate a pillar point which is, again, you always have the decision to be parted from anything.
It all goes back to how humans naturally disagree with each other. One whispers, "All fades, beloved, even the brightest tapestry eventually succumbs to the moth-eaten kiss of time." The other, a defiant echo, countered, "Nay, some threads hold their fire, warmed by moons and suns."
But,
What would life be stripped out of sentiment, emotions, pure moments of awe, and the simplest of gestures, aren’t all of these kindled by human memories? Would we even recognize life in their absence? I believe it is foolish to downplay the sentiment and to cut off the very roots of our experience, both sweet and bitter.
Don’t let memories diminish into nothingness. Whatever it may be. All greetings are not the same; there is a kiss only a mother can give; there is a blessing only a father can bestow; there is boundless compassion only a friend can supply; there are places and times that we run through not knowing how much of a value they hold. We must allow these encounters to progressively soften our hearts on the daily in their unique way. Capture them in digits, write them in ink, sketch them, or simply just cherish them deep within your heart, soul, and mind.
For memories are not trophies on a shelf, but the very air we breathe.
